Somethings will never get old. Case in point, The Simpsons on FOX. One of the longest running sitcoms on television also has one of the longest running opening gags. The couch gag, where the familiar Springfield introduction parodies countless situations and genres.
Most recently, the Robot Chicken team visited Springfield to help make this new couch gag introduction.
The Simpsons introductory couch gag is one of the most famous parts of the long running animated show. For their latest gag, FOX‘s most famous family takes on AMC’s hit series Breaking Bad. Since debuting over the weekend, the video has amassed over 1.3 million hits.
Man. There used to be a time when The Simpsons were on the cutting edge. They made the trends. They didn’t sadly follow them after they were long gone and dead.
But on the other hand what do you expect from TV‘s longer running scripted sitcom? At some point, it’s not as fresh as it used to be.
Nevertheless, here is The Simpsons, very official, Homer Shake dance video. Since debuting over the weekend, the animated Harlem Shake spoof has already accumulated over 5 million hits.
It’s really incredible to think that The Simpsons is currently longest-running scripted show in television history. So it’s should be no surprise to find out that Matt Groening and company have been nominated for an Oscar for this animated short, Maggie Simpson in The Longest Daycare. The week old video now stands with over 690,000 views.
Back in the 90′s, all the talk in television world was the cartoon The Simpsons, the animated series that was famous for toilet humor and pushing the envelope. Funny how today it’s basically considered a tame kids show.
The show had finally ‘made it’ when Oprah took part in a Behind the Scenes special that included having an Oprah avatar on the show. Now, this clip from the special has started to trend again.
