Popular educational and inspirational TED talks recently posted this excerpt from Frans de Waal’s full speech, and now it is trending again.

While discussing moral behavior in animals, Frans and his team conducted an experiment where two monkeys would receive the same payment of a cucumber slice for completing a task.

At first they are both satisfied with their cucumber. But when one of the monkeys is given an ‘expensive’ grape instead, his counterpart is disgusted with his measly cucumber and throws the piece in the face of the experiment technician

The implications of the experiment are quite obvious.

There’s a long standing myth online that a person can only take 45 DEL units of pain. The claim continues to say that women experience 57 DEL while in child birth, but men can feel over 9,000 DEL when kicked in the balls.

Of course, the fact that DEL doesn’t even exist as a unit of measure didn’t stop this old (or new) wive’s tale from spreading.

But seriously, which is worse, getting kicked in the balls or going through child birth?

To properly evaluate the question, Asap SCIENCE says we must first have a firm understanding of what pain is in the first place.

Everyone loves money, but surprisingly, most people don’t have a full grasp on the concept of money. So that got Vsauce thinking. Just how much money is there on Earth?

Well, we know the M0, or aggregate of all coins and banks notes, is just slightly over five trillion US dollars. Now that’s a lot of money, but it’s not even close to how much we, and the world, owes, uses, and possesses on a daily basis.

To discover how much money we have, we must go deeper down the rabbit’s hole.

SpaceX is one of the the world’s only private space exploration companies. When the company first started, many scoffed at the idea of private space exploration, but now, with videos like this one of their impressive rockets, they are being taken much more seriously.

Their latest achievement is the Vertical Takeoff Vertical Landing Grasshopper rocket reaching a height of 820 feet in the air.

In this brand new video, the ten story rocket ignites, lifts off, hovers around 800 feet, and then safety and softly touches back down, all while Johnny Cash appropriately plays Ring Of Fire. Already, the new video has garnered over a quarter million views.

Grand Illusions specializes in interesting and rare toys that are based on science. In this episode, the host demonstrates the Heatmobile 2.0.

The simple device can be clipped onto a coffee mug filled with hot water, and amazingly, the propeller spins by converting the heat into mechanical energy.
