George Takei, most famous for playing Captain Sulu on the original Star Trek series, has resurfaced as a big name again in the past few years with the help of social media. Just his Facebook profile has over 2.9 million fans!

The marketers at  must have taken notice of his new stardom, as they enlisted the nerd celebrity to sing in this ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Deal’ commercial parody of the Aerosmith classic I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing. The week old holiday commercial currently stands with over 1.3 million views.

We can all instantly recognize when an informercial starts to play on TV. They all have the same feel, style, and formula, no matter how hard they try to differentiate themselves.

Old Navy took the same familiar style and spoofed classic infomercials with their latest viral commercial which has already broken half a million views in ten days. The real kicker that made the commercial such a success is the host who needs no introduction: Mr. T.

Get it? Mr T selling T-shirts? The commercial is covered by MemeMachine.

Old Navy launched a marketing campaign telling shoppers to say, ‘booty,’  and get a discount. By no accident there are only girls in the commercial, and that’s who they are going after. But seriously, what were the marketers thinking? I hope someone was fired for making such a horrible marketing campaign. The Internet is not happy with the video. Right now there are only 303 likes, but 1,221 dislikes. That doesn’t bode well. (Imagine Trump) You’re fired!
