Danny Boyle Talks About The “Pixarification” Of Movies

English film director Danny Boyle has noticed a trend in the movie making business that’s been going on for decades. Other cinephiles may have also picked up on the wave, even if they can’t directly put their finger on it.

Boyle refers to the phenomenon as the “Pixarification of movies.”

Since Star Wars, he says, more and more movies, especially the big expensive studio movies, are “family friendly.”

“The writers have fled to television, and now what you see on cable television is much more dangerous than the cinema. That’s the wrong way round. The television is at home with the parents.”

Who hasn’t seen The Matrix? Most young people have, but not Pixels Per Second‘s mom. He finally got her to watch the sci-fi action flick, and afterwards, asked her to retell the story in her own words.

She admits she didn’t grasp the entire film, closing her eyes often when things got too violent or intense.

But when discussing Neo, mom importantly adds in, “I keep on wondering is he straight or gay, cause I think there’s always been a question about that… He could be bi….”

The Literal Trailers series is popular for their creative parody technique of taking the trailer video for a feature film, and replacing the narration with a very literal one of what is, quite literally, occurring on screen.

Especially in the context of a Hollywood trailer, it can get pretty ridiculous.

As the latest trailer to trend online is for the Hunger Games sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, popular YouTuber Tobuscus performed his literal treatment for the fans to enjoy while waiting for the film to hit theaters this Thanksgiving weekend.

As usual, the new literal trailer is, literally, going viral.

Steven Spielberg’s “Obama” Parody Played At White House Correspondents Dinner 2013

The annual White House Correspondents Dinner was just held this Saturday, hosted by none other than Coco Conan O’Brien.

As it has become tradition, the dinner was filled with political jokes, gags, and parodies, most of which were aimed at the President, his opposition, or the media.

But what is really standing out this year is the special preview of the mock presidential feature film Obama, of course directed by Steven Spielberg.

In a hilarious twist, Obama even stars in the short clip as Daniel Day-Lewis as Obama.

“Was it hard playing Obama?” asks the president as Daniel Day-Lewis as himself. ”I’ll be honest, yea it was. This accent took a while.”

Now, the clip which is quickly going viral across the web this Sunday.
