Anthony Sherin, with The New York Times, discovered a lone piano outside his apartment on the streets of Manhattan in the Washington Heights neighborhood, and as a social experiment, decided to documented the serendipitous results.

At first, people just stopped to check it out, and maybe play a few keys. Some played well. Others didn’t.

But after time, the dark side of New York emerged, and, like a pack of vultures, NYers swooped in, smashed the piano, and took whatever they thought they could salvage.

Sadly, Manhattan is no Tel Aviv

One of the most shared videos from the super storm Sandy is this short clip from the 8th Street and Avenue C intersection in lower Manhattan. The scene of flooded metropolis streets with cars strewn about and emergency service lights flashing is so surreal, it looks more like a Hollywood movie set than real life.

After going viralviral with their first two timelapse videos of Seattle and San Francisco where they ‘empty’ the city of all life, the  has just published their most grand video yet.

After travelling across the Big Apple, they created this epic time lapse of America’s most grand metro of New York City with all forms of life simply deleted.

It’s a surreal scene to see the most populated metropolis completely empty, and has appropriately been published just as hurricane Sandy has started to shut down the entire East Coast.

One of the Internet‘s most famous improv pranksters, is back with another doozy that has instantly gone viral.

They enlisted the help of 24 professional looking volunteers in office dress to all convene at the office chair section at the Staples store in Times Square, Manhattan.

They all sat in a circle with coffee, computers, and paper and began to hold a meeting only to be interrupted by a staff member who insisted that they must have had the wrong address.

“This is a retail store,” he said, dumbfounded that a large group of businessmen and women would sit in an office supply store for a meeting so nonchalantly.
