Berkeley Freshman Makes Ridiculously Automated Dorm Room

Moving away from home and going to college can be nerveracking and exciting experience. The first thing most students notice is that they finally have control over their room. Mom and dad can never go through your stuff.

Derek Low wanted to take full advantage of his room, and set out “to create the most ridiculously automated dorm room in the school ever.” He calls his set up BRAD, or Berkeley Ridiculously Automated Dorm Room, of course.

All of BRAD’s lights, computers, and even window shades are networked and automated. He has full wireless control of BRAD with a wireless remote, tablet, a smartphone app, and even his voice.

But the best part is he setup a classic ‘big red button’ for emergency party mode. You gotta check this out.
