Newly Discovered Video Taken By New Yorker On 9/11 From The Streets Of Manhattan

It seems each year, new lost footage from 9/11 is discovered and the same conversations take place. This year, swompyskippy published a ten minute video taken by a New Yorker in the streets from that day.

Remember, people didn’t simply walk around with digital cameras in their pockets like they do today so this is a rare piece of history.

In the raw footage, you can really see how the entire city simply stopped in a dazed confusion. One New Yorker’s assessment of the situation really rings loudly: ”This is probably the beginning of something.”

Tourist Records View From World Trade Center North Tower On 9/9/01

This video by wmmsbo was only published lasted year and takes place inside the North Tower on September 9th, 2001 during a vacation to the city for the MTV Music Awards.

During lunch, Bo Mathews recorded the calm view, and even got a little of the boat race going on that day. “Scary to think that less than 48 hours later- this wasn’t there anymore, and all of our lives changed,” he commented. “Kinda surreal to see people enjoying boating and the last days of summer below.”

YouTuber dmandman100 similarly said: “It’s trippy watching videos of things that are no longer there, just like watching a video of someone who you know that has already passed.”

One World Trade Center Time Lapse 2004-2012

The Freedom Tower, also technically known as One World Trade Center, just surpassed every other skyscraper in New York City, a serious milestone. And with the anniversary of the killing of Osama Bin Laden on everyone’s mind, the rising of the tower has even greater significance.

But it’s been a long time rebuilding the World Trade Center, over eight years and counting. To gain some perspective, here’s an epic time lapse video published by Earthcam that is featured on LaughingSquid and Gawker.

Woman Catches Burglars In Her Home While Away With Online Cameras

With proper use, the Internet has become a very powerful tool. More and more people are setting up cctv cameras in their homes to monitor their pets while they are away. But in this bad economy, people are also setting up cameras as for great home security device.

While away, a woman was shocked and horrified when she checked her home cameras to discover two burglars in her home. She called 911, and reported the burglars while literally watching the crooks rummage through her stuff. She says that she’s been robbed before, and that’s why she had the cameras installed. Thankfully police got there in time, and were able to surround the house before the perps had a chance to escape.
