Our modern world is so peppered with text and type, most people rarely pay any attention to the typography of words. Linguists nerd Ben Barrett-Forrest is changing all that with his new History Of Typography stop motion animation.
He discusses how the power to express words all started with Johannes Gutenberg, the unofficial father of typography. From Gutenberg came thousands more typefaces, many of which we still use and see today.
A serious car crash took place on the Norwegian mountain roads, so it was nearly impossible to get a qualified EMT there to help in time. Luckily, officials in Norway sent a chopper to taxi a doctor to the crash scene.
In an impressive move, the helicopter pilot literally landed on the guardrail on the side of the road for long enough for the EMT to disembark.
The video description roughly translates to, “You thought parallel parking was difficult – see how helicopter pilot maneuvered into place.”
This video was published in September but has only gone viralviral now. The web is peppered with police encounter videos, most of which are focused on the cops wrongful actions.
But few of those videos were taken by a daring kid. But then again Jeremy isn’t your average kid. Jeremy was at the local 7-11 when he noticed a cop park his motorbike on the sidewalk, which is illegal unless there is an emergency.
And ‘dying of thirst,’ as the officer purchased a Big Gulp, doesn’t qualify as cause for illegal parking.
So Jeremy stood up to the cop, asking him, “Is there a reason for you to park on the sidewalk, is there an emergency or something?”
When the cop says there is no emergency, Jeremy asks for his badge number.
“Why, are you a junior lawyer or something?” rebuttals the cop.
When Jeremy wouldn’t quit, the cop then starts interrogating him, asking for ID, and asking if he was loitering.
Finally, Jeremy knew it was time to call it quits, and walks away, surprisingly still a free man.
Around two in the morning in Wetteren, Belgium, Joachim Van Durme was woken up by a huge explosion. He looked out the window to discover a freight train had derailed not far from his bedroom window. The train was transporting toxic chemicals, so naturally viewers are advising Joachim to get out of town for a few days. Already, the new video has garnered over half a million views.
